With Worlds and the Summit coming up quicker than you think, it’s safe to say that many of you are beginning to feel the pressure and stress that comes along with it. We’ve all gone through this before. As a cheerleader, it is expected that no matter the ample amounts of time spent preparing you for these moments, we will always be stressed… It is only natural. With that being said, I always liked to find ways to motivate myself, and my teammates, in finding things that further prepared us for the competitions ahead.

First things first… Try and relax!

I use to find myself a quite corner where I would run through my routine in my head, while taking deep breaths. Some of my teammates listened to music in order to prepare themselves for their performance, while others took naps. It doesn’t matter what you do, it only matters that you do it, because finding ways like this to relax is a great way to improve confidence in your abilities.

The second thing you need to do is trust in your coaches… They know what they are talking about. They spend everyday of their lives dedicated to you and your teammates, whether you think they do or not. They constantly uplift you, and essentially want what you want… to hit! They trust in you, so trusting their confidence is a great way to prepare yourself for competitions.

Just because you don’t feel prepared doesn’t mean you aren’t prepared. You have spent months with coaches that you trust putting together a routine that is essentially bullet proof. The only thing left now is convincing your self that YOU ARE PREPARED! You’ve been in the gym almost everyday perfecting your skills in order to be the best they can be. You have run through this routine a million times! You know what needs to be done in order to be successful, so stop doubting yourself! YOU CAN DO IT!

So, share with us! What are some of the ways you guys like to prepare for competitions?
