As you head into a new season, it is only natural to make a list of things we want to accomplish… here are three ways that you and your team can have the best year ever, both on and off the mat.

As cheerleaders, it is our nature to set multiple goals for ourselves that we can work towards in order to stay motivated and determined throughout the entire season.
Since it is only natural to make a list of things we want to accomplish in the new season, here are three ways that you and your team can have the best year ever, both on and off the mat.
1) Be content with the now
As we all find ourselves getting caught up in what’s happening and what will happen in the future, it is easy to catch yourself wishing away the moment because you are so excited for what’s ahead. While that’s okay, and is a part of life, learning to be more content with the now will allow you to enjoy the very moment you are in. If we learn to be content with the now, it makes the better moments more enjoyable when they do come around, because once those moments are over, you can never get them back.
2) Stay positive
It is important that in order for us to have the best year ever on and off the mat, that we stay positive no matter the circumstances put before us. Positivity is contagious, therefore staying upbeat and optimistic about the next month’s upcoming practices, competitions and team bonding exercises, is a great way to keep everyone else’s spirits high, on your team and throughout your life. There is nothing more important than a good attitude and strong work ethic, so setting an example and being the best athlete you can be is a great way to make this year your best year ever!
3) Bond more with your team
The closer you are as a team, the easier and more fun it is to accomplish a common goal. You spend countless hours, days and months with these people who start to become more like a family instead of a team. Team bonding could bring you and your teammates closer together and encourage better collaboration, which, in turn, will bring greater results. Building these relationships not only creates a better team, but it also builds strong friendships outside of cheerleading, which leads to lifelong bonds with people you know and trust. The positivity and encouragement that building your team’s familiarity can bring to you on and off the mat is astonishing and something that is worth working towards.
