Hey friends!!

It’s been forever since the last time I had the opportunity to blog for Inside Cheerleading, but I’m thrilled to finally have a second to sit down and write! Anyways, when I was thinking about what would be a good first topic back, my mind drifted to the fact that this coming Saturday will be my last home football game in Jordan-Hare Stadium. With that being said, I also realized how close we are to Thanksgiving! Then it hit me, I knew exactly what to write about! I wanted to encourage all of my readers to be thankful. That sounds super cliche considering what month we’re in, and it’s also easy to say that as I’m clearly getting sentimental about being a senior. But honestly, take the time this week to be so thankful.

Of course I mean to be thankful for family, friends and all of the things that the good Lord has blessed us with, but specifically be thankful for wherever you are in cheerleading, or for whatever sport you’re in for that matter. As a senior that is almost done being able to call myself a cheerleader, I urge everyone younger than me to take in every day, every practice, and every part of it. It will be over before you know it, so enjoy yourself. Cherish the moment that you’re in, and cherish the good days and the bad. Because some days are hard, we all know that. But having a smile on your face and a positive attitude goes such a long way.

It feels like last month I was a competitive gymnast, like last week I became a cheerleader, and like yesterday was my very first game in Jordan-Hare. I had always heard that time flies, and I understood it because weeks go by fast, and that sort of thing. But you don’t realize how fast time really does fly until you’re looking at being done with something forever. So, in this time leading up to Thanksgiving, be extra thankful for your time as a cheerleader. Let this week be the best week you’ve had all year! You’ll be surprised at how that mindset will rub off on all of your teammates and coaches as well!

Can’t wait to write again soon!!

With love,
Sommer Henry
