Every team or program works hard to raise funds for their upcoming year for uniforms, practice wear, camp fees and competition fees. iC has 4 tips to help you and your team pull off a successful fundraiser!
Tip 1: Plan Ahead
No matter what type of fundraiser you are planning, there will be cost involved- be it car wash supplies, rental tables, candy bars or printing costs. Start early so you have time to shop around, compare prices and figure out the most cost effective means to getting the word out about your event and pulling it off with success. One easy method: Ask to have your fundraiser listed on the local schools or community calendars. It’s inexpensive, but spreads the word quickly, freeing up money and time. Once you set your event dates, stick with them and make sure to recruit volunteers in advance.
Tip 2: Make Contact
How do you find donors? Start within your local community and ask parents for their help. If you’re looking for gift items, ask businesses directly. Send emails or place calls to larger organizations. Communicate clearly what your program goals and needs are plus how the money will be used to benefit your team(s) or gym. Offer to advertise their business at your event in exchange for their generous donations. Make it easy for your contacts to donate by receiving donations in all forms. Some donors will provide monetary funds to the organization, but many also may supply gift items to be used at raffles, auctions or prizes! Having these items donated cuts out the cost of purchasing, resulting in a higher final profit.
