Division 1A finals! What a great competition, all of the hard work all these teams have done over the past couple months paid off. Congratulations to all of the teams. I was really impressed by all of the creative stunts and pyramids this year and wow, were the baskets higher than ever!

The teams that competed in the finals for Division 1A were: University of Minnesota – Minneapolis, Ohio State, Western Kentucky University, University of Memphis, FSU, University of Alabama, LSU, University of Kentucky, Mississippi State University, Indiana University, UCF, University of Mississippi, University of Hawaii, Penn State, and University of Kansas. That was also the order of competition that the coached drew on Saturday night.

Saturday evening, all the finalists returned to their rooms for team meetings, bonding and most of all rest. Everyone was excited to stand under the ESPN lights in the morning and compete for a national title. As spectators began to pile in the Milk House, seas of colors grouped together there was blue, red, black, gold, green, purple and many more. Parents, friends and fans were ready for the show and they got it!

All the teams did great! In 4th place was LSU, their cheer got the crowd on their feet, rewinding with signs, while spelling out T-I-G-E-R-S! Then the middle layer switched their legs while the top girls fulled to the other side! Great job all around, it was very entertaining. UCF, coming in 3rd,, they were also amazing. Everything they did was so clean and sharp! Especially those stunts and signs in the cheer! Ali Soven got the crowd roaring with her spectacular tumbling. Starting with a standing full and ending with a one and a half thru to kick full, you go girl! I also loved the cartwheel up to 1-1-1's! Just coming off winning a football national championship, Alabama placed 2nd. The difficulty in the routine never stopped, from the opening stunts, round off rewind thru to stretches, to the unique ending pyramid. I loved their ending pyramid! The 2010 National Champions were the University of Kentucky! They were phenomenal! One arm rewinds, tic-toc stretches, hand to hands, everything was perfect! I have to say that I was more impressed by the creative and difficult pyramids. They made them look so easy and effortless, they were packed full of entertainment! Not to mention their great baskets and their pike open doubles were amazing! Every year teams travel to Orlando with one goal in mind, executing the best routine they can and win a national championship, and this year Kentucky did that…again! Great job Wildcats!

I can't wait for next year!
